The popularity of Dubai as a tourist destination has absolutely sky rocketed in the last 5 years. The increased popularity has been borne from a mixture of monstrous investment in the city and a reduction in the cost of travelling to and from Dubai. There is little doubt that this is the most ostentatious city on Earth, a place that endeavoured to create the World’s largest building, re-create some of the World’s most famous landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and where they even decided to recreate the World by way of an Earth shaped archipelago. Bigger and better seems to be the motto in Dubai and it is somewhere that you really need to visit to get a true understanding of the scale and grandeur of this incredible destination.
Staying in Dubai is not so cheap and as such spending a week or more there is likely to cost you a pretty penny, as air-fares have lowered however, there are many travel companies offering short breaks to Dubai which will give you just enough time to gain an insight into this crazy city. It is important to maximise your time in the city so you should look at taking a car service in Dubai to get you around when you are there, this way you can go where you want, whenever you want and save much needed time.
If you decide on a short weekend break then you’re going to need to plan what to do before you go so here are 3 of the best places you should be heading to during your 48 hours in Dubai.
Brunch at the Palm
Dubai screams luxury and one of the best ways to indulge in this, perhaps on your first day is to go for brunch at the incredible Atlantis hotel. Situated on the Palm archipelago you will arrive at around 11 for your brunch, we chose the Asian brunch and throughout the day we were treated to over 16 different dishes and topped up regularly with champagne. It is a beautiful setting with great food and good champagne, a great way to start the trip.
It would be criminal to head to Dubai and not visit the World’s largest building, at 828 metres high this gargantuan structure offers the greatest views of the city from it’s peak. Not only is the building insanely tall but also very intelligently designed which you will see as you stand in the 38mph elevators to head up to the 128th floor, which takes just 34 seconds. An incredible feat of human engineering and the views from the top are breathtaking, make sure you visit the Burj Khalifa.
There is nothing more ostentatious than creating a snow park in the middle of the desert and that is exactly what they have done at Ski Dubai. Set within the walls of the Emirates shopping centre, this incredible ski park features over 22,000 square metres of of snow-filled fun, an 85 metre snow mountain with 2 different ski routes and a park with half-pipes and ramps. There is nothing that they can’t do in Dubai and this park represents exactly that.
