Located in the state of Illinois, Chicago is a city known for its culture. There are many art galleries, museums and parks that offer concerts and cultural events.
Grant Park and Millennium Park
The city is known for its parks, many of which are located on the shores of Lake Michigan. There are more than 200 fountains in the city. The city’s two main parks are Grant Park and Millennium Park. The Millennium Park is known for its cultural activities, including concerts and cultural events.
Grant Park is filled with locals and visitors enjoying the park’s museums and activities. Three of the city’s most visited attractions are located in the park. The Chicago Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History and the Shedd Aquarium. The Buckingham Fountain offers water shows. The Agora area in Grant Park is decorated with many statues.
In the city of Chicago theres are museums dedicated to arts, culture, history and sciences. The Chicago Art Institute is a large center where visitors will be able to explore galleries filled with art masterpieces and sculptures. At the Field Museum there are exhibits showcasing artifacts dating from ancient civilizations, cave paintings and fossils. At the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum visitors will find the Butterfly Haven.
The Navy Pier is one of the city’s most popular attractions. The pier is located on the coast of Lake Michigan and has views towards the city. There are many amusement park rides and a vintage Ferris wheel that has 40 gondolas and offers views of the city and the lake. The promenade has many restaurants and shops. The Chicago Children’s Museum is another one of the pier’s attractions. The museum has many interactive exhibitions.
Formerly the Sears Tower, Willis Tower is one of the most recognized buildings in the city. The Sky Deck, located on the 103rd floor, is an observation deck with views towards the city. The Ledge is a glass balcony that floats more than a thousand feet above ground.
Shedd Aquarium and Lincoln Park Zoo
The Shedd Aquarium holds more than a thousand fish. There are several coral reefs, a Caribbean tank and a tank with fish from the Amazon. Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the country, is a place where visitors will be able to relax and see animals from several regions.
Around the City
The Magnificent Mile is a district located near North Michigan Avenue, one of the city’s main streets. Most of the city’s attractions and landmarks are located in this area. Visitors will be able to explore Chicago and its downtown area on foot and by bike. The Loop Tour Train allows visitors to enjoy sightseeing around the city center and its financial district.
